Warren & Jordan Williams: The Coaches Behind East Elite

If you followed our Making of a Warrior series, you'll already know Annabelle and Sophie, two IMPI girls chasing big running goals. What you might not know is the coaching team behind them. Warren and Jordan Williams are the father and son duo leading East Elite, a Sydney track group that's helping young runners, including our own IMPI girls, become stronger, faster and more confident with every session. And in exciting news, they'll be leading our first ever Sydney shake out run this September!

Who are Warren and Jordan?

Running is the family business for the Williams boys. Warren has been involved in the sport for more than 40 years, first as a competitive triathlete, then as one of NSW's top Masters athletes with wins and podium finishes across Australia and the USA. He's coached at every level, from school athletics programs to one of Sydney's largest training squads, and was named NSW Recreational Running Coach of the Year in 2018/19.

Jordan grew up surrounded by sport, competing in everything from athletics and triathlon to surf lifesaving, before finding his calling on the coaching side. He's the youngest qualified Level 3 Advanced Middle and Long Distance Coach with Athletics Australia, and in 2023 he was named NSW Athletics Recreational Coach of the Year. He's also no stranger to a challenge himself, once running 100km up and down Sydney's Heartbreak Hill to raise $45,000 for cardiac research.

Bringing out the best in every runner

East Elite is their Sydney based track group, bringing together junior and senior runners from squads across the city's east to train side by side. Sessions are built around one simple idea: bring out the best in every runner, no matter their experience or ability. It's the same thing we believe at IMPI. When girls feel supported and part of a team, confidence follows, and that's when the magic happens.

What sets Warren and Jordan apart isn't just their credentials, it's their approach. Jordan is known for his enthusiasm and genuine care for his young athletes, while Warren brings decades of experience and a real focus on the wellbeing of every runner in the group. Together they've built an environment where young athletes feel encouraged to show up, work hard and enjoy the sport.

Helping IMPI girls chase their goals

Annabelle and Sophie from our Making of a Warrior series train with Warren, Jordan and the East Elite team, and their journeys say everything about what this kind of coaching makes possible. Great coaches don't just build faster runners. They build confident young athletes who love turning up, race after race, season after season. That's exactly the kind of support we want every IMPI girl to have in her corner.
