Track Session with Brisbane Athletics

Georgie Burg and Abbie Hegarty, Brisbane Athletics

Hard reps. Fast splits. Showing up when the motivation fades. The Making of a Warrior begins in the quiet moments, when no one is watching and the only goal is to be better than yesterday.

But it is not just about the grind. It is also about the squad around you. The laughs between reps, the banter during warm ups and the moments that make the hard sessions worth it.

Follow Georgie Burg and Abbie Hegarty from Brisbane Athletics as they train with their team for the 3000m and 800m at the Queensland Track & Field State Championships in March 2026.

QLD Track & Field State Championships

Georgie Burg and Abbie Hegarty, Brisbane Athletics

After weeks of hard sessions, early mornings and showing up when it counts, this is what Georgie Burg and Abbie Hegarty have been working towards. The Queensland Track & Field State Championships.

Racing the 1500m and 800m, it’s no longer about preparation, it’s about execution. Trusting the training, holding your nerve and stepping onto the line ready to give everything.

NSW Track & Field Championships

Sophie Hufton and Annabelle Jessup, East Elite Sydney

As the focus shifts to New South Wales, we meet two new athletes chasing the same goal: Nationals.

For Sophie Hufton, the last few months have been about building back into form. Trusting the training. Finding confidence again. And when it mattered most she delivered, executing her race perfectly to take gold in the 3000m.

For Annabelle Jessup, the path has been less straightforward. After dealing with a knee injury, this race wasn’t about the result. It was about showing up, pushing through and taking the next step forward. A reminder that the road isn’t always linear and that grit, patience and determination are all part of the process.

Different journeys. Same finish line.

Fartlek & Track Session with East Elite Sydney

Sophie Hufton and Annabelle Jessup, East Elite Sydney

As Nationals approaches, the focus shifts. After the highs of the NSW State Championships and challenges along the way, the work continues but with a different mindset. Less about proving, more about preparing. The sessions are still intense, but the focus is clear: trust the process, stay present and build confidence heading into the biggest stage of the season.

For Sophie, it’s about backing up strong performances and staying composed when it matters. Annabelle's focus is on rebuilding. Managing injury, staying positive and the final preparations for race day.

With Nationals just weeks away, every session, every decision and every moment counts. This is The Making of a Warrior.

Australian Junior Track & Field Championships

The final chapter

The final chapter. After the early mornings, the hard sessions, the setbacks and the wins, it all leads here. The Australian Junior Track & Field Championships.

At Nationals, the standard is higher, the races are faster and the margins are smaller. But the biggest shift isn’t physical, it’s mental. It’s about backing yourself when it matters most, committing to the race and learning from every moment, whether it goes to plan or not.

Podium finishes, strong performances and hard-fought races are only part of the story. What matters most is what they take from it. Confidence, experience and the belief that they can come back stronger.

Because The Making of a Warrior doesn’t end here, it continues next season.
